Hertford Castle

Parking availability at the Castle is fairly limited; if there is no space, there are two public car parks within close proximity in St Andrew Street (max stay 4 hours) and Gascoyne Way (A414) which is a long stay multi-storey.

Directions to Hertford Castle:

There are two railway stations in Hertford, both approximately 10 – 15 minutes walk away from Hertford Castle.
Hertford North station receives trains from Moorgate and Kings Cross, and Cambridge.
Hertford East receives trains from Liverpool Street and Cambridge.

From A10.

Take Hertford Exit
At roundabout take exit to Hertford Town Centre
(Mercedes Benz Garage over to right hand side) take second exit to Town Centre.
at next roundabout take 1st exit (left)
Either take 3rd exit (right) driving through town to Castle Hall along the Wash.
(ForSt Andrews Streetcar park, take left filter lane at Old Cross traffic lights and drive alongSt. Andrews Streetto public car park on left hand side. Cross over footbridge into Castle grounds, you will see Castle in front of you).
Or take right hand lane forGascoyne Way multi-storey car park then head toCastle Street walk through theMoatGarden (Castle Grounds).

From A1/M1

Follow A414 to Hertford.
As you enter Hertford you will go over a roundabout and directly under a railway bridge
At roundabout go straight on (2nd exit) get into left hand lane
At next roundabout you can either go straight on (2nd exit) and park inGascoyne Way
multi-storey car park then head toCastle Streetwalk through theMoatGarden(Castle Grounds).
Or take 1st exit left and either take immediate left and follow signs to the Castle Hall or continue through town along theWash, take left filter lane at Old Cross traffic lights and drive alongSt. Andrews Street to public car park on left hand side. Cross over footbridge into Castle grounds, you will see Castle in front of you.

From Stevenage A119

Follow A119 to Hertford.
As you enter Hertford you will go under a railway bridge and straight over a roundabout
2nd exit. Continue until you reach a mini-roundabout take 2nd exit (right)
At next roundabout filter into left hand lane to join carriageway.
At next roundabout take the 1st exit lane and either follow signs to the Castle or drive alongSt. Andrews Street to public car park on left hand side. Cross over footbridge into Castle grounds, you will see Castle in front of you.
Alternatively take 2nd exit (straight ahead) and park in multi-storey car park Head toCastle Street walk through theMoatGarden (Castle Grounds).
