Free for members
Join us for a short one hour session designed to support you with core subjects without taking you away from your desk for too long.
Offering guest speakers and subjects scheduled to reflect the clerk and council annual diary. Join us with your lunch whilst we unpick a variety of subjects including budgets, resilience, risk, finances, elections and staffing.
This is a free, ‘light touch’ training offering, please look at our wider programme for more detailed sessions.

Quality Conversations (full day, in person session)

This one-day course equips delegates with the skills and confidence to manage difficult workplace conversations effectively. It focuses on improving the quality of everyday management conversations to prevent issues from escalating into formal conflict.
The programme draws on best practice in communication, conflict prevention, and performance management. Guided by experienced TCM trainers, delegates develop practical tools to address performance concerns, give constructive feedback, and handle challenging behaviours. The course supports managers and leaders to resolve issues early, promote engagement, and achieve sustainable outcomes through effective communication.

HAPTC discounted price for members £350.00 per person please register your interest by emailing Katie@haptc.org.uk. Lunch will be included
If your smaller council is interested in this type of training please let Katie know as we do have some ‘lighter touch’ options that HAPTC may be able to facilitate.

 

Mental Health Awareness CPD Accredited

This CPD accredited course has been developed by Total Wellbeing Matters. This interactive, online course raises awareness of mental health.
It covers:
•What is mental health?
•How to challenge stigma
•What is Stress?
•Spotting signs of distress
•An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing.
•Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue and how to start a conversation.
All participants will receive a manual, workbook, and certificate.
Learning will take place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.

HAPTC discounted price for members £125.00 per person (half day session)

Cancellation Policy

Please inform us immediately if you are unable to attend; there might be a reserve list. Member cancellations within 48 hours (2 full working days) of the course will be invoiced in full; non-members must give at least a full working week notice. This is to cover preparation and other costs (any handouts will be posted to the Clerk). You are of course welcome to find someone else to take your place. If we are able to reallocate at late notice we will inform you that the invoice is void.
